Oona Doherty studied at the London School of Contemporary Dance, the University of Ulster and at Laban Dance Centre London. Since 2010 she has performed internationally with companies such as TRASH, Abbattoir Ferme, Emma Martin / United Fall and Enda Walsh & Landmark Productions. She received the Best Performer Award at the Dublin Tiger Fringe Festival in 2016 for her solo “Hope Hunt”, and in 2017 the Total Theatre Dance Award from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2017 she was one of the artists selected for the European newcomer platform Aerowaves. In the same year she developed “Hard To Be Soft – A Belfast Prayer”, which has since been shown in Belfast and Dublin, the Recontres choreographiques internationales des Seine-Saint-Denis, the Lyon Biennale 2018 and elsewhere. Doherty’s new work “Lady Magma” premiered in April 2019 at Val-Du-Marne dance biennale.
