35th International Festival Berlin

9–26 August 2023

Tanz im August | 9 – 26 August 2023

August flew by and with it the 35th edition of Tanz im August is now behind us. Under the new artistic direction of Ricardo Carmona, the focus of this year's festival was the artistic visualisation of the manifold reciprocal relationships between people, nature and culture(s) - and thus also between different dance languages.

We are happy to look back on three great and varied weeks in which 19 productions were presented at 11 venues - including 5 premieres, 6 German premieres, 8 Berlin and international co-productions and a commissioned project with 22 Berlin artists within a total of 47 performances. More information about the productions presented at Tanz im August 2023 can be found here.

With an occupancy rate of 99,2 percent, 17.300 visitors and around 16.100 tickets sold, the festival was able to continue the success of previous festival years - with many 'standing ovations' and cheers from the very heterogeneous audience. We are very grateful for this overwhelming response!

In addition, Tanz im August was attended by 480 professionals from the national and international dance scene who travelled to the festival especially for the premieres.

Many thanks to our audience, all artists and our partners!
