Jennifer Kamau is a Berlin-based feminist activist and researcher. She is one of the co-founders of the International Women Space (IWS), an anti-racist feminist group of refugee and migrant women. The group emerged from the occupation of Oranienplatz and the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule in Berlin-Kreuzberg. IWS fosters solidarity and collaboration between migrant women, as well as producing books, organizing campaigns, demonstrations, and conferences on the issues of asylum seeking and migrant women. Most recently IWS co-organised "When I came to Germany" (2017), a two-day conference focusing on the experiences of women who came to West Germany as guest workers, to East Germany as contract workers, as migrants, and refugees to the reunified Germany and of German women who are affected by racism. Currently the group is focusing on producing documentation of the conference as well as a second publication of In Our Own Words 2.
