Erkan Özgen

Erkan Özgen is an artist with an international record of exhibitions, his work has been on display at major museums and venues outside Turkey. Born in Derik in the Mardin province, Özgen graduated from the Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts, Çukurova Üniversitesi in 2000. He already made his first mark on the Turkish art world with the exhibition “Young Activities“ in 1998. Since then, he has participated in many internationally acclaimed programs. In 2016 Özgen became an Artist at Risk (AR) resident at Perpetuum Mobile/HIAP Safe Haven Helsinki, Finland. His film “Wonderland”, shown in Helsinki in 2016 and the AR Pavilion – Athens in 2017, won the “Polarized!” Prize (Finland) and is currently on display in the International Istanbul Biennial. Parallel to his artistic work Erkan is a teacher and also a founding member of the Mesopotamian Ecology Movement.
