Audience Engagement

The performance is over – but what lingers on? Following selected performances, the discussion series Beyond the Stage (held in English) invites audiences to continue reflecting on what they have experienced on stage. Together with artists and moderators, we place these experiences in a broader context and explore the artistic processes behind them.

In the format Beyond the Stage Plus, additional external guests enrich the discussions by contributing further perspectives on the themes underlying the works. The discussion series (held in English) creates space for deeper insights, unexpected perspectives, exchange, and questions – including yours.

Before the Stage is designed for anyone who would like to come to the performance prepared with information and context regarding movement languages, artistic themes, references, and the artists’ biographical backgrounds.

For the fourth year in a row, Tanz im August invites festival artists to take part in a digital conversation format that offers personal insights into their lives and work, as well as into the pieces they present at the festival. 

The podcast episodes are available in English or German and are released in advance of the festival on our website and on major audio streaming platforms.
