What is the driving force of a collective body? How do traditions change in the context of colonialism? And what might folklore look like in today’s dance spaces? “C A R C A Ç A” approaches these questions directly, by bringing together different practices and dance forms. Their movements – and above all, their complex footwork – have more in common with each other than they might seem to. A ten-person ensemble, accompanied by live percussion and electronic music, brings contemporary street dance into contact with traditional dance forms. A shared ‘skeleton’ is reanimated and moves its way through the flow of new embodied forms.
