Après moi, le déluge

20.–22.8.2026

Age recommendation: 16 years

Duration 1 h 15 min

“Après moi, le déluge” by (LA)HORDE portrays a world in crisis and uses dance to explore social fears and inner conflicts. Twelve dancers from the Ballet national de Marseille embody the tensions of the present and present dance as a form of resistance and change.

In a world shaken by crises, the new work by (LA)HORDE is an attempt to create new imaginaries in order to collectively dismantle the inner and social monsters of today. Twelve dancers from the Ballet national de Marseille, which the collective has directed since 2019, embody the contradictory forces of the present moment. Blending hyperrealism, poetry, and the grotesque, “Après moi, le déluge” extends (LA)HORDE’s exploration of dance as a means of transgressing imposed narratives. The result is a choreography driven by the energy of revolt, like a final explosion to shake the foundations of the old world.

Artist's Note by (LA)HORDE

“Après moi, le déluge” (“After me, the flood”) emerges at a tipping point, in a fragile moment when the world seems to lose its footing. Beneath the weight of ongoing crises and collective exhaustion, bodies collapse and soften, beginning to come apart even before the performance starts.

The dance starts moving against the current of time, reaching back toward what came before the catastrophe, before erosion and fatigue set in. But turning back requires a decisive act: the ground splits open, the stage is torn apart, a chasm appears. From this breach rise hybrid, monstrous figures shaped by our shared narratives, our silences, and our renunciations.

In this underground space, the dancers reenact the structures that shape our world: power, legacy, domination, but also the possibility of transformation. The scenes unfold as micro-rituals in which care may heal yet also constrain, where tenderness slips into control and attention carries quiet forms of surveillance.

Following Room with a View and Age of Content, this creation extends an ongoing exploration of dance as a way to transgress imposed narratives. “Après moi, le déluge” is a collective introspection, a descent beneath everyday gestures and systems of power, questioning how we look, how we care, how we transmit, and how we might change.
