Weekly Preview 5.–7.8.: Opening Weekend

This weekend the 34th edition of Tanz im August, presented by HAU Hebbel am Ufer, finally starts. We are looking forward to eventful days with the participating artists 2022, many visitors and a ceremonial opening on Friday, August 5 at 8:00 pm at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

Cristina Caprioli, a choreographer and performer who will accompany us throughout the 2022 festival with the retrospective ONCE OVER TIME, will start the festival at KINDL ¬ Centre for Contemporary Art. There she will open these with her piece "Leafing: Silver" (5-7.8.). At HAU2 she can be seen on stage herself from Saturday on with "Leafing: Loops" (6.+7.8.). The Australian company Marrugeku presents its long-awaited German premiere at Haus der Berliner Festspiele with "Jurrungu Ngan-ga / Straight Talk", which deals with human rights violations in Australia (5-7.8.). The duo Byström Källblad and 30 performers start their outdoor parcours "City Horses" at the Humboldt Forum that is as humorous as it is critical (6.+7.8.). Amala Dianor's piece "Siguifin" deals with individuality, social cohesion and cultural differences (6.+7.8.). Frédérick Gravel closes the weekend by bringing his feelings about art, capitalism and patriarchy to the stage, accompanied by a rock band (6.+7.8.).

Other offerings include the Library (Bibliothek im August) at the Festival Center at HAU2. Feel free to come by and browse through the books provided by the artists! The first "On the Sofa" event will here further provide space for discussion and exchange between artists and experts: "On horses, dances, pulses, feminism and the city" (6.8.).

With "Happy to Listen #1" also our online series starts: an exchange about new perspectives, contradictions and points of criticism. The first upload is already on Friday: "Mother Dance: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of a Dance Career as a Mother" hosted by Oona Doherty (online 5.8.).
