Kevin Martin and JustinBroadrick extract the one percent of Hardcore, which can be found in just aboutevery musical genre, and turn it into perfectly rounded sounds. In the early1990s, Martin was the driving force behind the Freejazz-Noise ensemble GOD andran the label Pathological Records, for which he booked the very first gig ofGodflesh, at the time the new project of Napalm Death founder Justin Broadrick.Soon after, they began to collaborate and produce songs and albums together, discovering shared preferences: both have a weakness for acoustic extremes, contemporary classical music, quirky soundtracks, anarchic punk, Dub andElectronic music no longer composed solely for Metal fans. In order to fusethese influences, they founded the project Techno Animal. Soon, new musical genreslike “Death Jungle” or “Scrum’n’Bass” were invented to accurately describeTechno Animal’s music. On one of their albums, they combined their ownvariation of Hip hop with remnants of Jazz, Industrial, and Dub. While one halfof the tracks were amplified by MCs, the other half was pure instrumentalmadness. Yet all that now belongs to the past. Techno Animal does no longerexist. The duo moves onto new territories. Their new project Zonal willpremiere at HAU Hebbelam Ufer.
