Yukihiro Taguchi

Yukihiro Taguchi was born in Osaka in 1980 and graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Since 2005 he has been living in Berlin. The locations of his site-specific installations usually also serve as the artist's starting point and as his material. By engaging very precisely with his surroundings and working outside the realm of art, he also always creates connections in the work between past, social present, and the life of the artist. The installations become happenings and events, and he records their creative evolution in sketches and stop-motion videos. The artist's projects have been presented in numerous exhibitions, both in Berlin and internationally in Brazil, Kenya and Great Britain, as well as on the Maldives and in Havana.

Since 2013 Taguchi has been working in collaboration with Chiara Ciccarello. The first project of this collaboration was DISCUVRY, where they built a first house in the occupied area in Cuvry Straße, Berlin, starting a chain reaction that led to the creation of a self-build village and a multicultural community in the center of Kreuzberg.
