Tori Kudo

Tori Kudo is a composer, musician and head of the band Maher Shalal Hash Baz. His musical influences include the singer, writer and multi-instumentalist T. Rex and the saxophonist Steve Lacy. He and his wife Reiko Kudo were members of the band “Worst Noise”. The impulse to found “Maher Shalal Hash Baz” came from an encounter with the euphonium player Hiroo Nakazaki. Both artists shared an interest in the music of Mayo Thompson and Syd Barrett. The group had their international breakthrough when they moved to the Geographic Label, on which they have released several albums, including: “An Egypt to Another Egypt” (2000), “Maher On Water” (2002), “Faux Depart” (2003) and “Live Aoiheya January 2003” (2005), “Bill Wells & Maher Shalal Hash Baz” (2009) and “C'est La Dernière Chanson” (2009).
