Theater Hora

Theater Hora was founded in 1993 in Zurich (Switzerland). Its aim is to support the artistic and creative development of people with a mental disability and allow them to show their extraordinary skills at a professional level and to a wide audience. The theatre aims to provide an environment in which the actors can both act and develop their skills in other fields such as music, visual arts and costume design. Hora is of the opinion that people with a mental disability have skills and strengths which enable them to make a valuable social and cultural contribution to the arts. The artists’ unfiltered perceptions reveal hidden worlds, which the onlooker can grasp intuitively. In every respect Theater Hora tries to strengthen the public’s awareness of this appreciative perception in order to ground it in our society.
