Under the name Schwarze Deutsche Welle (SDW e.V.) Joana Tischkau, Elisabeth Hampe, Anta Helena Recke and Frieder Blume deal with the representation of black German musicians, moderators and entertainers from the 1950s to the present. SWD e.V. is the construction of a fictional cultural-historical movement as well as a genre. In the next few years a performative archive will emerge, to be continually expanded. Tischkau is a choreographer and dancer, whose works “WHAT.YEAH.” and “TPFKAWY” have been presented at the Danshallerne Kopenhagen, at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and at Staatstheater Darmstadt. These works are given dramaturgical support by Hampe, who also develops her own productions with a focus on concepts of sound and spaces. Recke was already seen at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in 2017 as part of the Schwabingrad Ballett. Her copy of Anna-Sophie Mahler’s “Mittelreich” staging with a black cast was produced at the Munich Kammerspiele and was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2018. Blume is a DJ and music producer. His album “Schleifen” was released in 2016 on Σ Tonträger. His concern with popular music and its socio-critical classification lead him to collaborate on a variety of theatre projects. Collectively the artists took part in the flausen+young artists in residence programmes.
