Raze de Soare

Raze de Soare are part of the Bucharest musicians’ collective and label Future Nuggets. The duo plays proto-Manele, a mixture of the Romanian Balkan folk of the Roma minority and contemporary, synthesized pop music. The style emerged in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s in West Romania as a counter to state sponsored, traditional folk music and was often played at weddings and in bars – their LP “Albatross” appeared in 2015 on Future Nuggets and is an homage to the proto-Manele band by the same name.
