The Kotti Shop is an experimental, non-profit art and project space founded in December 2008. It lies directly at Kottbusser Tor, in the Neues Kreuzberger Zentrum. The artistic direction is handled by Julia Brunner and Stefan Endewardt. Kotti Shop regularly holds exhibitions, performances, film screenings, concerts and participatory art projects with the neighbourhood. What is particular about the art space is both the variety of its activities and its role in local Berlin and its strong bond with the neighbourhood. The art lab SuperFuture originated in the Kotti Shop. Its repertoire includes artistic works with or without a participatory approach, which usually come together into expansive, multimedia installations. Starting from the idea of a mutual relationship between structure and action, it uses artistic means to examine and interrogate urban (living) spaces including their diversity and processes.
