Karl-Heinz Stockhausen

Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928 – 2007) was one of the world’s most famous and influential composers of New Music. From serial to electronic music Stockhausen had been instrumental in each development of the avant-garde for a long time. Although he tried to use process-oriented composition forms and reverted  in his “Weltmusik” to the archives of the global folklore, Stockhausen emphatically understood his own artistic genius and forbade any divergent interpretation of his works. Only the cycle “Out of the Seven Days” is open to interpretation: the work consists solely of textual instructions.
