Jefta van Dinther

Based in Berlin, Swedish choreographer Jefta van Dinther has since 2008 created and performed works that explore notions of the visible and the invisible, synaesthesia, illusion and the uncanny, often in close interaction with the mediums of light, sound and stage design. Central in his work is the question of what it means to be human, examined through its relation to society, community and environment but also to other forms of life such as the animal and other non-human entities. Among his productions are the highly acclaimed “GRIND” (2011), “Dark Field Analysis” (2017) and four commissions for Cullberg: “Plateau Effect” (2013), “Protagonist” (2016) and his recent diptych “On Earth I’m Done: Mountains & Islands” (2021 and 2022). As a regular guest at Tanz im August he returns with the world premiere of “Unearth” (2022).
