Hans Otte

Hans Otte (1926 – 2007) was the youngest musical director of the ARD at Radio Bremen. Otte was an indefatigable organiser and facilitator of experimental and multimedial music. He introduced the styles of La Monte Young, Terry Riley and David Tudor in Germany and helped broadcast over 100 works in the field of new music. His own work (as a pianist), on the other hand, remained narrow: the piano cycles “Book of Sounds” (1979-82) and the “hour-book” (1991-98), based on Rainer Maria Rilke.
