Fadhil Al Azzawi

Fadhil Al Azzawi was born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1940, studied English literature at the Unveristy of Baghdad, and earned his doctorate in Leipzig. He was a member of the Iraqi avant-garde generation of the sixties and immigrated to Germany in 1977, where he has worked as a freelance writer. He has published 25 novels, volumes of poetry, criticism, and several translations. Fadhil Al Azzawi lives in Berlin.
