
Chara Kotsali is a dance maker, performer, and teacher based in Greece. She studied Dance, Theatre Studies, and Anthropology, and she also received training in music. She approaches choreography and performance through an expanded, interdisciplinary lens, drawing on methodologies from anthropology, documentary practices, music, and other performative languages, with a particular focus on the politics of sound and movement. Her artistic practice
incorporates writing, field recordings, and DIY sound composition. Her stage works include “borborygmi” (Audience Award, Athens Epidaurus Festival), and “IT’S THE END OF THE AMUSEMENT PHASE” (Aerowaves Twenty26, Moving Balkans 2026). She was a member of the Grand Luxe Network (2023–2024), an Onassis AiR Fellow Artist (2024–2025), and a participant in the Visiting Artists Programme 2025. She also works as a movement director in theatre, receiving the 2023 Greek Critics Association Award for Best Theatre Choreography, and regularly contributes as a writer to yusra magazine.
