a group of dancers are standing in a black space under a bluely illuminated floating plastic that floats above their heads

Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Meskerem Mees, Jean-Marie Aerts, Carlos Garbin / Rosas

EXIT ABOVE after the tempest

Minimum age: 6 years

Duration 90 min

My walking is my dancing – such is the credo of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. It forms the origin of her choreographic work, from simple sequences of movement through compositions of spatial and physical complexity. She explicitly returns to this point of departure and explores its various dimensions. The piece works with the tension between a group marching in sync and individuals breaking step, with the romantic idealisation of wandering juxtaposed to the political potential that can develop when people with the same goal simply walk together, side by side.
