Mette Ingvartsen

Danish dancer and choreographer Mette Ingvartsen has since 2002 created works that deal with affect, sensation and historical perceptions of the body. In “The Artificial Nature Series” (2009-2012) she focused on reconfiguring relations between human and non-human agency, while in her latest series, “The Red Pieces” (2014-2017) she addressed the body politics of nudity and sexuality. In 2019 she interlaced humans, technical tools and natural materials in “Moving in Concert” and addressed migration issues in “The Life Work”. She holds a PhD in choreography from Stockholm’s University of the Arts and has, since establishing her company in 2003, toured internationally. She has been artist in residence at the Kaaitheater in Brussels, Volksbühne in Berlin and has regularly presented her works at HAU and at Tanz im August.
