Canadian choreographer Daina Ashbee is known for her dark and feminine works in which dance and performance art intersect. As a young choreographer, she has won multiple awards, among which the prestigious New York Bessie Award for Outstanding Choreographer (2019). In 2021, she had two retrospectives of her early works, presented at Montpellier Dance Festival and at Usine-C in Montréal, Canada. She has been invited to among others the Venice Biennale, Oktoberdans and the Munich Dance Biennale. Currently based in Gabriola Island, British Columbia, she continues to tour her works across Europe, Canada and the United States.
