Maija Hirvanen

Finnish choreographer Maija Hirvanen situates her work in performances and cultural practices that examine belief systems, language, memory and mechanisms of re-learning. Her long-term project “Performing Interconnections” focuses on performative practices that take a more-than-human worldview. Since the early 2000s she has presented her works internationally at among others ImpulsTanz Vienna, Sadler’s Wells London, SPRING Festival Utrecht, Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Dansens Hus Stockholm, Zodiak, Kiasma, Baltic Circle, Helsinki Festival and Moving in November Festival. She is currently a member of the THIRD Research Cohort at DAS Graduate School in Amsterdam and is a regular guest at Tanz im August.
