Week preview 22.-26.8.

This week, Tanz im August discovers three more dance locations. During the coming weekend, Big Dance Theater can be seen at the Deutsches Theater with 17c, their performance is follwed by Paul Lazar's homage to John Cage with Cage ShuffleAdam LinderService No.5: Dare to Keep Kids Off Naturalism is in the Galerie Capitain Petzel; and Alexandra Bachzetsis plays the Volksbühne with Private Song. But there’s still much to see at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, including the German premiere of TITANS. Inspired by Greek mythology, Euripides Laskaridis moves between comedy and pathos. HAU3 will host the German premiere of Hallo!, in which the choreographer Aydin Teker articulates the meaning of the 2013 Gezi protests in Istanbul. In HAU2, Constanza Macras/Dorkypark approaches the themes of the diasportic self, cultural appropriation and multiculturalism in the world premiere of Chatsworth. In Pixel, hip-hop-dancers of Compagnie Käfig move in a digital cosmos. The hip-hop artist Nick Power transforms Sophiensæle into a b-boy battle with Between Tiny Cities, in which prejudices about hip-hop and masculitinty are undermined.

Scribe continues to accompany our festival by gathering the experiences and memories of the festival visitors. As a special audience format, the #MeToo-related talk "Challenges, Chances, Changes - The Gender Issue in Dance" will take place on 26.8. at 16:00 at Bibliothek im August. Don't miss the party at WAU on Saturday night!
