Love is an eroded, shabby, abused, poisoned word. But what significance does it have beyond the clichés? Maija Hirvanen devotes her lecture-performance to love in its varied forms. “Art and Love” explores shared and learned concepts of love, and calls up both historical and contemporary images in order to approach its subject matter. How do we practice and perform love? What role does it play in art? In her expansive solo the Finnish choreographer lightly combines precise observations with big questions.
