Oona Doherty "A Concrete Song"

“A Concrete Song” is the original poem by Oona Doherty which inspired her Hard to be Soft series. In this series she reflects on her hometown Belfast based on stories and experiences of locals with the aim “to create a dance theatre work that abstracts the broken memories of my youth of Northern Ireland into a neon bright prayer.” The location the video was shot is the Ulster Maple Leaf Sports and Social Club on Belfast’s Park Avenue.

“What if Jesus came back? What if he was bricking your car on the Saintfield road?” she asks in the poem.
