The Escape Offensive

In her newest performance "White Dog" the choreographer Latifa Laâbissi suggests escape as an offensive act. One source of inspiration for this work was the philosopher Dénètem Touam Bona and his 2016 book “Fugitif, où cours-tu?“ (Fugitive, where are you going?), in which the escape of slaves from plantations and their disappearing into the tropical jungle is explored from their perspective. Here the escape becomes a conscious act of sabotage and reconquest of power. This publication also inspired the scenography by Nadia Lauro, who created a forest made of lianas, in which camouflage is a central aspect. "White Dog" is an attempt to regain the sovereignty with a message from the underground.

Ahead of the world premiere in July 2019 in Marseille we were able to get a first glimps on the impressive stage design.
