Big Pulse Dance Alliance

Big Pulse Dance Alliance (BPDA) is a 4-year partnership (2021-2024) of 12 European dance festivals and institutions united by their passion to promote, strengthen and broaden the reach of the contemporary dance sector. With the support of EU Creative Europe co-funding, BPDA aims to diversify dance programming on stages and in public outdoor spaces; support artist development through mentorship, travel and workshop programmes; and invite new audiences to engage with the artform through dynamic live or digital performances and other participatory activities. The project’s long-term vision is to establish a lively network of European dance festivals who work collaboratively and sustainably to further the life-changing impact of dance.

Big Pulse Open Air Commissions

We’re delighted to announce the first three projects selected as part of the Big Pulse Open Air programme. This series of co-productions aims to bring artists and audiences together through presenting bold, captivating choreography in outdoor spaces, celebrating the power of the body in motion.

Big Pulse Scaling Up Programme

We’re thrilled to announce the first commissioned artists by Big Pulse Dance Alliance.

Oona Doherty, Silvia Gribaudi, Marco da Silva Ferreira and Amala Dianor were selected for the Big Pulse Scaling Up programme. This programme will focus on supporting artists transition from producing work for small and medium-sized stages to large-scale productions through a series of co-commissions. These four artists will create new works to be co-commissioned and toured at several partner festivals.
