Sophie Corriveau

Sophie Corriveau works in the area of contemporary dance as a dancer, choreographer and teacher, rehearsal director and artistic advisor. After graduating from the École supérieure de danse du Québec she began her career at the Theatre Ballet of Canada. From 1989–93 she was an ensemble member of Montréal-Danse. Since 1993 she has worked as a freelance dancer with Louise Bédard, Virginie Brunelle, Danièle Desnoyers, Sylvain Émard, Alain Francoeur, Jean-Sébastien Lourdais, Manon Oligny, Raphaëlle Perreault, Manuel Roque, Catherine Tardif and others. In 2011 she created her first choreography, the solo “Jusqu’au silence”, in collaboration with her brother, the visual artist Thomas Corriveau. From 2014–16 she was dancer-in-residence at Agora de la danse. Sophie Corriveau is the rehearsal director of the dance company Daniel Léveillé Danse, and teaches at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
