Nicola Gunn

Nicola Gunn has won many awards as an author, choreographer, performer and designer whose work combines text, choreography and visual art. Since 2002 she has been creating solo performances that locate parallels between personal experiences and wider social realities and pursue the idea of autobiographical fiction. In recent years she has created “Working” with the Children for Melbourne Theatre Company (2018), “Mermermer” with the choreographer Jo Lloyd for Chunky Move (2016), “The Interpreters for Site is Set” at the Alliance Francaise (2016), and has published her first comic, “Instruction Manual for Lonely Mountains” (2016), with the illustrator Michael Fikaris. Nicola Gunn was artist in residence at Kaldor Public Art Projects under the mentor Marina Abramovic (2015), and has received commissions from the Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre, Chunky Move, Field Theory and Performing Lines/Mobile States. She has received the Australia Council for the Arts Creative Australia Fellowship, the Australia Council Theatre Fellowship, the Sidney Myer Fellowship and a Churchill Fellowship.
