Malika Lamwersiek

Malika Lamwersiek is a dancer specialised in the street dance styles hip hop, house and popping. Her main interest lies in the body's relationship to the music and the narration of invented stories during improvisation. Since 2013, she has travelled to various countries to exchange with other hip hop artists and to research the history of Afro diasporic dance styles and their societal context. As an active part of the urban dance community in Berlin, Malika Lamwersiek and the Walashé collective organise jams, battles and classes. As a performer and dancer, she was part of the theatre piece “Roots” in Cologne and the internationally touring dance piece “Diana, Even” by Kat Válastur.
